I saw it in your tag game post that you're also fond of the Apollo-Heracles conflict 👀 for a myth that appears in only a couple of sources, it sure has a lot of presence in the vase paintings (no seriously, everytime I think I've seen the last of it, I find ten more)

SO do you have any favorites among the paintings that represent this story??

I also think it's extremely interesting that it's a story so popularly portrayed by vase paintings and in such a variety of ways!! It's certainly one of the stories that gets left out of written compilation of Heracles' legend a bit (which is a shame, I think it's a fantastic story) but Apollo had a very peculiar relationship with Heracles in general that I just kind of find amazing (and very, very funny).

Apollo is not a god with any legitimate grudge against Heracles, but he does argue with the mortal a bit like he argues with his favourite brothers 😂Part of why I love the story of Apollo and Heracles fighting over the tripod so much is that it is such a little brother thing for Heracles to be upset with the proclamation his elder brother has given him and so, he throws a great fit, taking up the chair and declaring that he'll just give himself a better prophecy! And Apollo, instead of being a marginally professional big brother, decides to fight him for it until their father has to break up their cat-fight. Like was that not just the plot of the Homeric Hymn to Hermes? Is this not exactly how Apollo treated Hermes when he was a child and now those two are inseparable? 💀

Because of this, my favourite vase paintings tend to be the ones that highlight the personal squabbling between Apollo and Heracles the most. There are some very elaborate ones that have the full host of them - Athena, Heracles, Apollo, Artemis, usually a dog and a doe, I've even seen a couple that had birds and plants etched on them, but the simplest ones that show Heracles about to bonk Apollo with his club out of frustration or depict Heracles nyooming away from Apollo while Apollo (presumably) yells curses about how he's going to fling Heracles head first into Tartarus for daring to take his things? Yeah, those are the premium big brother/little brother things I'm looking for.

The halls of Arendelle Castle, for as long as she can remember, were always spotless. Kai, the overseer steward of the castle staff, has commanded their staff members with impeccable detail on how to keep the whole castle running. He has been the head of the staff for many, many years now. Not even a speck of dust is seen, though perhaps the bedchamber of her parents were gathering dust. One of the most cleanest locations had to be the royal chapel, somewhere that Elsa has begun to frequent the closer her coronation day approaches. The royal is practicing the ceremony in the darkness of the chapel, something she has faithfully done for three whole years now.

Spotting a trail of rats, however, nearly makes her drop the scepter and orb right there. Her death-like grip on them, thankfully, helped save her from loudly dropping such precious relics of the past. She squints in the dark, thinking she saw the rats were carrying something in their mouths. Letting go of the objects in her hands, Elsa begins to follow the rats out of the chapel. She keeps following them by the light of the moon until it leads to the royal gardens. She scans the area until she notices the form of a shrouded person crouching down, welcoming the rats to his side. She furrowed her eyebrows, confused on why someone would choose to interact with rats in the middle of the night.

"Excuse me, but are you part of the castle staff?" Elsa asked, breaking her silence after staring at him for a couple of stunned seconds. She pulls her velvet cloak closer to her body, though it's purely for the sake of her own modesty. She is alone, walking around in the middle of the night, something that would no doubt cause a potential scandal if she wasn't careful. She shouldn't be out here in the first place, but the same could be said about this potential intruder.

Elsa keeps her safe distance from the man, debating on whether she should speak up about the rat topic or not. He could be dangerous, she noted. To run into someone with an unstable mindset does feel dangerous, but he didn't look that threatening. He is older than her, though he still looks pretty scrawny. She is certain she could take him on if he chose to attack, but she wants to avoid causing a conflict. "Erm, are you okay?"

How To Use Floor Washes.

In this post I'll be speaking on the us of floor washes. Now in the south (New Orleans) we use this quite often and I'm going to teach you how we do it here.

Strating with Herb Baths it can be used as floor washes to cleanse your home, to draw in positive influences and to protect your space. Cleansing your home with a floor wash is one of the most traditional and effective ways to get rid of curses (negative energy) and clear the house of any powders that have been sprinkled, doesn't get rid of of any dark spirits or entities that may be present just energies or build up spirit residue.) Burning some sage just isn't enough to clear away all these influences. What you need is to wash that floor, the old fashioned way. It's also common to cleanse your home with a floor wash immediately after taking a magical bath so that both your body and your home are cleansed and protected.

How to Cleanse Your Home With a Floor Wash:

Make Your Wash. First I would start by if your useing premade wash then skip this part.ajd add it to your bucket.

Start by taking your choice of of herb bath and emptying the packet into a coffee cup. Pour boiling water over the herbs and allow them to sit for about ten minutes so that the herbs can release their essences into the water. After ten minutes, strain the herbs out and save the liquid. You can dispose of the herbs in the trash.

2. Cleanse Your Home. Cleanse your home from the back of the house to the front or if you have more then one floor top to bottom. Use a mop on tile, cement and wooden floors. If you have carpet then use a clean broom and lightly moisten the tips of the broom straws with the floor wash and use this to "sweep" the carpet.

Another option is that you can put some of the floor wash into a spray bottle and lightly spray the carpet. You can use a cloth moistened with floor wash to wipe down the base boards, doors, window sills, and thresholds of every room. Make your way to the front door of your home. While you clean you can pray in your own words, or if you'd like you can pray Psalms 23 or a selected psalm of your choice.

When you reach the front door, cleanse the door step or porch very well making sure to cleanse under the doormat.

3. Cleanse the Front Door. Using a moistened cloth, thoroughly wipe down the front door of your home, inside and out, using your floor wash. As you wipe the door, pray for it to be a portal for goodness into your home. You can anoint the front door with small crosses drawn in a condition oil I use Holly Water.

4. Dispose of the Floor Wash. Now that your home cleansing is complete, take the used bucket of floor wash out to the street with an "AMEN!"

Protecting and Anointing the Home. It is typically a good idea to go through your home after you've washed it. Go through and anoint and bless all the doors and windows. Select your oil, Holy Oil. Holly Water etc. and then dab a tiny cross onto the four corners and center of every door and window in your home. As you anoint the doors and windows pray in your own words for God to bring positive blessings into your home and into your life. This is very similar to the body anointing you perform after taking a personal magical bath.

Remember put all your thoughts and energy into it ask your spirit guides or ansestors for help.

Beltane Blessings Anointing Oil

"Celebrate the Celtic May Day festival with this blend.

5 drops lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia) for love, health, peace

5 drops patchouli essential oil (Pogostemon cablin) for energy, sex, aphrodisiac, grounding

5 drops tangerine essential oil (Citrus reticulata) for physical energy, joy, purification

1/4 cup carrier oil

Blend all essential oils in a glass or nonreactive bowl. Add carrier oil, and mix well. Store in a glass bottle.

Use to bless and purify anyone entering sacred space who is not allergic to any of the ingredients. Use with care, and print a copy of the ingredients to have on had in case of allergy. Tangerine essential oil is reported to be non-phototoxic but can still present sensitivity issues in some. Use with care."

NOTE: Essential oils and absolutes can be expensive, and this book has shown to present a few costly recipes, so take them with a grain of salt. I personally use oil infusions rather than essential oils because of chemical sensitivity, and it tends not to be of high cost comparatively. I take all of these recipes as a suggestion of correspondence rather than something I absolutely must follow. It's better to get creative and use what you have on hand rather than spend a ton of money on some oils you'll only use once or twice.

You will have and be generous in whatsoever your heard guides you to give. Don't feel guilty for the success that is to come. Just thank divine. Your team of guides are very proud of you.This is the year, this is the day, this is the time that your destiny helpers are flooding in.

You are delivered from vows, oaths, pacts and curses of poverty. You have shown that you are worthy of what is to come. You have shown a great deal of responsibility not only for your destiny but that of others. You have cared even when you were questioned. Your social status is about to change. Elsa noted how the stressful day, her special day, was almost over as she allows herself to sit down at the table within the busy ballroom. Her feet were killing her from pacing around in the ballroom, too restless. She wasn't tired from dancing since she has yet to even dance with one person. She has skillfully deflected every potential person that boldly asked for her hand in a dance. She even managed to avoid dancing the the Duke of Weselton. The thought of dancing with anyone sounded like a nightmare waiting to happen, though it was certainly not anyone else's fault.

She has never been one to enjoy dancing, so feeling a shadow fall upon her already makes her groan on the inside. How many more people did she have to greet? How many hours is it going to take before this party will end? Elsa looks up at the person that has chosen to approach her. A rejection to the dance proposal, which is always crafted with a polite smile, is ready to leave her mouth...

Except she didn't receive an offer to dance.

Bright eyes widen the moment she spotted the sight of a massive bouquet.

She hasn't received flowers as a gift in so long, though she does remember the last time she received a gift from a stranger. She received a small bouquet of purple heathers from a child, an adoring child, on the day that her family's statue were revealed to the public and also her once complete family. It took years to complete, but the statue is one of the few references the people have of their royal family. The statue of herself was back when she was merely eleven-years-old, still a precious and polite child. The unveiling of the statue came with lots of cheer, but she also received a small bouquet of one of her favorite flowers. Calluna vulgaris, more commonly known as purple heathers, were only one of her many favorite flowers.

But right here, in her very arms, were flowers that aren't purple heathers...

They were, however, were still familiar sights.

Though she has always wanted to try her hand at growing flowers, she did not have the chance to try to grow flowers. Her curse made it impossible for her to even grow flowers, so she simply stopped trying to work with gardening. Though she did give up on her green thumb, Elsa still enjoyed to collect books on flowers and their many uses. She instantly spotted Arendelle's royal flower, the crocus, in all its beautiful glory. The crocus flowers were a symbol of rebirth, a flower that often bloomed between late winter and early springtime. Choosing a crocus is a safe choice for a gift, though it will always be pleasant to see her family's flower...even if it did make her feel a little sad.

The sight of the other flowers, however, did brighten her spirits. She recognized the lavender right away, though they were hidden quite well with an expert hand. She always enjoyed the scent of lavender. Purity, serenity, healing, calmness, devotion came to her mind... The lavender flower were one of her favorites, often enjoying to use it to help her for sleeping. She also enjoyed incorporating the flowers in tea blends from time to time, finding the taste and aroma to be very soothing.

What she didn't expect to see is the splash of blue amidst the purple. Forget-me-nots... How amusing to see them. This man is certainly quite bold with his choice in flower, though she still did like the sight of the forget-me-not flowers. Their shade of blue were always pleasant to her eyes, so she did enjoy their sight. Next came the final flower, a burst of blushing pink chrysanthemum flowers.

Anna would no doubt enjoy the chrysanthemum flowers more than her, but Elsa did not say that aloud. She breathes in the scent of all the flowers deeply, allowing herself to enjoy the moment. If all went well tonight, she did plan on sharing the massive bouquet with her sister. She would no doubt pick out the chrysanthemum flowers for her little sister, maybe even a couple of the crocus flowers. She would keep the lavender and the forget-me-nots for herself... She knew she wished Anna would forget about her, but that is besides the point.

"Is all of this for me?" Elsa knew the question sounded stupid as soon as it came out, but she wasn't prepared to receive a gift. Though she is still stunned by the gift, she remembers to smile as she takes the bouquet from his arms. She didn't recognize the man, but she still took the bouquet. Having both of her hands busy gave her a convenient excuse to avoid dancing with someone, including this dashing man. She is thankful she wore gloves even now. She didn't want to bring death to this gorgeous gift as soon as her bare hands touched the floral gift.

"Thank you for this wonderful gift. May I have the honor of knowing your name?" She inquired his name in the same breath as she thanked him, politeness instilled into her very bones. Anna would no doubt be fanning herself at the sight of this handsome face, especially if he gave her such an unexpected gift. Elsa, on the other hand, is more on the cautious side since she has always been like this for as long as she can remember. It wasn't this man's fault in the slightest, though she did ponder what his meaning behind the flowers were.

Even if she is leaning on the cautious side, she still does truly appreciate the gift. She will indeed cherish the gift, but she didn't plan on keeping it all for herself. Anna will be receiving some flowers, but she planned on giving some flowers to some of the more trusted staff members. She didn't need such a massive bouquet, so she planned on spreading this gift once everyone has left. Perhaps, maybe once she gathered enough courage, she will leave some flowers upon the graves of her parents. Even though there was nothing buried in the ground below, the thought of leaving flowers for her parents did feel like the right idea to do.

"I'm afraid that I don't recognize you, but I appreciate your lovely gift..." Elsa quietly admits, still remembering to keep the smile upon her pale face. She holds the bouquet more tighter at the reminder of her parents, but she skillfully does not let the creeping invasion of heartache to show upon her face. She is secretly relieved her gloved hands were now occupied, but she couldn't deny there is a chill in the air now that wasn't there seconds ago. Full arms saved herself from having to deal with guests that were too friendly, though she did begin to worry over this man before her. She wasn't sure if he was knowledgeable on the language of flowers as well as she was, so she held her tongue. She kept on smiling. It was as easy as the lies she has told tonight whenever someone asked her how she was feeling.
